Netlike dullness under low light is wear of the finish. A scratch that catches your fingernail is something else.

Fine scratches come mainly from grit under shoes and in furniture pads; walking alone does not make them. As long as they stay in the finish, renewing the protection without removing wood clears them. Once they go through the finish, a surface treatment can no longer deal with them.

Process
From diagnosis to the correct LOBA layer.
Fingernail test
Gently draw a fingernail across the scratch. If it does not catch anywhere, the damage is in the finish.
Drop test
A drop of water that is still standing after ten minutes, with the wood under it unchanged, means the protection is still intact.
Remove the cause
A doormat at the entrance, pads under the furniture and regular dry dust removal do more than any product.
Renew the protection
After basic cleaning maintenance layer or, on a suitable factory finish, a full recoat after an adhesion test.

When should this route not be used?
If the fingernail catches on the scratch, the finish is worn through. A care layer does not close that permanently — the wood behind it stays open to moisture and dirt.

Is there a product that removes fine scratches?
No. Care and polishing products soften them optically, because they fill the microrelief and even out the reflection. They do not restore the protection and do not close open wood.
Why are the scratches visible only in the morning or evening?
Because low side light reveals them. That is the most reliable way to see the real state of the surface.
Does a matt finish get fewer scratches?
It gets the same number. It reveals fewer of them, because it scatters light instead of directing it. Resistance is set by the composition and thickness of the coating, not by the sheen level.
